A Celebration of Life for Helen Brown Dishner, of Clarkesville, formerly of Franklin, North Carolina, will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 until 2 p.m. one hour prior to the service. Immediately after the service, a social gathering of friends will be held at Macon Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dishner passed away at her residence Sept. 18, 2022.
Born in Scaly Mountain, North Carolina, Helen was a daughter of the late Olin and Edna Brown Dryman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Ray Dishner; sons, Kenneth Ray and Phillip Lee Dishner; brothers, Cecil and Wayne Dryman; and sisters, Mae Tucker and Mary Roper.
She was a caregiver and always enjoyed taking care of others; she received that same loving care from her caregiver, Brenda and the Amedisys hospice nurses.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Renee Smagur (Richard); seven grandchildren, Amanda Scheese (Matthew), Richard Trey Smagur III, Jacob Smagur (Calesa Forbes), Sarah Bianchi (Chris), Zachary Smagur, Maggie Smagur, and Brook Broughton (Dillon); and seven great-grandchildren.
