Funeral services for Patricia "Pat" Edwards Wilkes, 61, of Demorest, were held Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, at Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Edward Hood and the Rev. David Rogers officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with the Rev. Geoffrey Dillard officiating.
Mrs. Wilkes went to glory Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021.
Born May 12, 1960, in Milledgeville, she was the daughter of the late Howard Alton and Mary Louiza Batchelor Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Timothy Wayne Mason.
Mrs. Wilkes loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a graduate of Baldwin High School, Bob Jones University, and Georgia State University where she received her master’s in education. She was an educator with several schools in South Georgia and most recently with Habersham County School System. Her career spanned 30 plus years of service dedicated to imparting her knowledge to the multitude of students that she taught. Mrs. Wilkes was a valued member of her church family at Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, singing and her chickens.
Surviving are her husband, Darren Wilkes of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Polly Acie Serpa (Dusty) of Nicholson, and Sara Lee (David) of Cornelia; children by choice, Noah Clay Wilkes (Ashley), Philip John Wilkes (Chelsea) of Mt. Airy and Makaela Roberts (Joey) of Tallulah Falls; grandchildren, Gunner, Carter, Ryker, Justin, Lawson, Kin and Hunter.
