After about three-and-a-half hours of public forum during Tuesday night's meeting, the Cornelia City Commission decided not to move forward with the zoning and annexation of 216.7 acres.
The motion to approve the zoning request from Cook Construction and Real Estate died due to the lack of a second, as did reposting the ordinance with correct information. According to state law, zoning must be decided before the annexation, resulting in no vote on the annexation.
In addition, the Development Assistance Real Property Interest Acquisition Ordinance, which allows eminent domain, was not approved by the commission.
