A quick response Monday by law enforcement at Tallulah Falls School proved a threat to the school to be a hoax.
Tallulah Falls Police and school security responded to a telephone call relating to an alleged shooting at the Tallulah Falls campus. That report was quickly determined to be false.
“There is no evidence that this has taken place,” an alert to TFS parents read. “Security and police are on duty clearing all areas. The school is currently in a soft lockdown.”
The phone call was determined to be a prank, and outside law enforcement agencies were looking into the source of the call. TFS followed established security protocols and went into a soft lockdown as a precautionary measure while the campus and the surrounding community were searched to ensure there were no threats, according to a release by the school.
“We appreciate the quick response of all involved,” said President and Head of School Larry A. Peevy. “We take all threats to our students seriously and will be working with local law enforcement, GEMA, Homeland Security, and the FBI as they investigate the false report. It is our number one priority to have a safe and secure campus.”
The lockdown was lifted shortly after it was imposed, as TFS officials alerted parents that all students were safe. The hoax came on the same day that six people – including three children – were killed in a shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tenn.
