HARRISON
A man accused of roughing up his girlfriend and holding her against her will in May 2020 was finally arrested on the charges Monday.
Gwinnett County authorities placed Harrison in the Department of Corrections on other charges, and it triggered the warrants that had not been served all this time.
William Joseph Harrison, 54, of Gainesville allegedly had a domestic incident with his girlfriend whereby he forced her into his truck at a Cornelia motel after punching her in the mouth.
He attempted to drive her away from the scene, but she jumped out of the truck near Old Cleveland Road and returned to the motel they were staying in. She then called 911, and Cornelia Police took warrants on the suspect.
Those warrants were for theft by receiving stolen property, simple battery and kidnapping, but they sat idle for the last 18 months.
Lt. Murray Kogod of the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that Harrison was picked up from the Department of Corrections and booked Monday.
Harrison’s charges in Gwinnett County were unavailable before press time Thursday.
