The bomb threats against colleges in Georgia stopped Wednesday, at least for the time being.
After the initial wave of bomb threats Monday against nearly a dozen schools across the state – including both the Clarkesville and Blairsville campuses of North Georgia Technical College – more threats circulated Tuesday.
Kennesaw State University and Georgia Highlands College received threats as well, but no devices have been found at any of the schools.
The FBI is running the statewide investigation.
“FBI Atlanta is aware of bomb threats across the state,” spokesperson Jenna Sellitto said. “The FBI takes all potential threats seriously, and we regularly work with our law enforcement partners to determine their credibility. As always, we would like to remind members of the public that if they observe anything suspicious to report it to law enforcement immediately.”
Roxy, the award-winning Habersham Sheriff’s Office explosives K9, went through all the computer labs at North Georgia Tech on Monday and found nothing. The 911 threat call specifically mentioned the computer lab and was tailored to one particular campus building in Clarkesville.
North Georgia Tech spokesperson Amy Hulsey said the school was cooperating with the FBI’s investigation in every way possible.
The list of colleges that received threats Monday included eight technical colleges and one in the university system.
Those were Augusta Technical College, Athens Technical College, Central Georgia Technical College, Columbus Technical College, Southern Regional Technical College, Coastal Pines Technical College and Wiregrass Technical College.
The College of Coastal Georgia also received a threat.
