Singing on Saturday: There will be a singing with the Keith Chambers Family at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 24, at Independent Baptist Church at 709 Old Athens Highway in Cornelia.
Men’s Bible Study: The men’s Bible Study at Clarkesville Baptist Church will continue on Tuesday, July 26, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Family Life Center. These sessions will be a continuation of the book “The Mulligan: A Parable of Second Chances.”
Bible time for kids: Neighborhood Bible Time will be held at Camp Creek Baptist Church in Cornelia July 24-29 from 6:30-9 p.m. Registration is at 6 p.m. and is for kindergarten through teens. A meal will be served for the children each evening. Come and have a wonderful time.
Revival coming to Macedonia Baptist: Macedonia Baptist is hosting Summer Revival on Monday through Friday, July 25-29, at 7 p.m. Macedonia is located at 6396 New Liberty Road in Clarkesville. Come by and hear Rev. Charles Holland, who will be bringing the message. All are welcome.
Quilting workshop set: The Mountain Laurel Quilters’ Guild will host a Foundation Paper Piecing Workshop on Friday, July 22, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Grant Reeves VFW Post in Cornelia. No prior quilting experience is necessary for this class but you will need to bring a sewing machine and a few other supplies. Food available Saturday: There will be free drive thru food boxes while they last on Saturday, July 23 from 1-3 p.m. at Cornelia United Methodist Church, Wyly St. Cornelia. This event is in addition to the weekly food pantry on Thursdays.
Clothing sale: The Cornelia Sharing & Caring Place is having a half-price sale on all clothing and miscellaneous items in the store Tuesday-Wednesday and Friday, July 26-27 and 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Vacation Bible School: Vacation Bible School at Cornelia Congregational Holiness Church, 368 Galloway St. Cornelia, will be held Aug. 5-7. Friday will be from 6-8 p.m., Saturday from 4-6 p.m., and Sunday from 5-7 p.m. In addition to all the activities related to VBS, we will distribute school supplies on the last night. Homecoming celebration: Rock Springs Baptist Church located at 747 Rock Springs Road in Lula will be celebrating its 125th Homecoming Anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 14. The homecoming service will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Singing in August: Everyone is welcome to enjoy one of the nation’s premiere gospel at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Clarkesville at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21.
Soup Kitchen seeks donations: The Clarkesville Soup Kitchen, a non-profit organization at 166 Ritchie Street, provides to-go meals six days a week to any individuals in need. The mission is to have no one in the community go hungry.
The kitchen has served an average of 65 meals per day in July, and donations of non-perishable food items may be left at the soup kitchen Monday through Saturday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Mailed donations can go to P.O. Box 712, Clarkesville GA 30523.
South Habersham planning reunion: A committee is looking for members of South Habersham High School’s Class of 1966. They are planning a fall reunion, and we need you to be there. Please contact a member of the reunion committee as soon as possible so they can make fun filled plans.

Groceries for those in need: Free Groceries for those in need will be provided every fourth Thursday of the month at Demorest Baptist Church (755 Central Avenue Demorest) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Clarkesville Sip & Stroll: The next Sip & Stroll is Friday, Aug. 5, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Downtown Clarkesville entertainment district. This recurring event will take place on the first Friday of every month through October. Participating businesses will have extended business hours/drink specials, there will be live entertainment.
Clarkesville to celebrate 200 years in 2023: It’s time to make plans to commemorate 200 years since the establishment of the village of Clarkesville on Dec. 10, 1823. A committee is forming now to lead the yearlong celebration in 2023. Initial plans include co-branding with existing events such as the Mountain Laurel Festival, Red, White and Tunes, the Chattahoochee Mountain Fair and seasonal Sip & Strolls. The year will culminate with the annual Habersham County Christmas Parade, slated to be held in Clarkesville in December 2023. Community members are invited to serve on the committee.
