Benefit ride is Saturday: There will be a benefit ride to raise money for Shelia Crocker McConnell’s lung transplant and recovery at the Mason House in Atlanta for 3-6 months will be held Saturday, Aug. 13, beginning at 11 a.m. at Baldwin City Park. Bikes, Jeeps, convertibles, etc. are welcome. Cost to participate is $25 per driver and $10 per passenger. After the benefit ride, there will be chicken plates, a raffle, and a Coolest Car Contest for a prize. Chicken plates will be $8 and $2 for dessert. Each driver will get a ticket for the raffle and additional tickets may be purchased for $5.
Homecoming celebration: Rock Springs Baptist Church located at 747 Rock Springs Road in Lula will be celebrating its 125th Homecoming Anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 14. The homecoming service will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Homecoming at Amy’s Creek: There will be a Homecoming Sunday, Aug. 14, at Amy’s Creek Baptist Church in Clarkesville. Service begins at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Stacy Dyer is guest speaker.
Revival set for August: There will be a revival at Amy’s Creek Baptist Church in Clarkesville from Aug. 15-18. Services begin at 7 p.m. each night. The Rev. Chris Cornet, the Rev. Terry Poole, and the Rev. Steve Ware are guest speakers. Everyone is welcome.

Greater Vision in concert in August: Everyone is welcome to enjoy one of the nation’s premiere gospel groups Greater Vision at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Clarkesville at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21.
Homecoming service set: Homecoming Service at Double Springs Baptist Church will be held on Sunday, Aug. 21, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Guest singers will be The Stephens Sisters. Following the service a covered dish meal will be served. Revival services will begin on Monday, Aug. 22, and continue through Friday, Aug. 26, nightly beginning at 7 p.m. Guest preacher will be Wayne McKinney. Pastor Wesley Purcell and the congregation welcomes everyone to attend. The church is located at 586 Double Springs Road in Demorest.
Homecoming celebration: Clarkesville Baptist Church will be celebrating Homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 21. At the at 10:30 a.m. worship service, Trevor Thomas – a worshipful, evangelistic, actor and entertainer – will bring the message. Following the service we will have a covered dish luncheon in the Family Life Center. All are welcome.

Fight Against Addiction: A Fight Against Addiction Recovery Festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, from 2-5 p.m. in Demorest Park. There will be live music, a cakewalk raffle, face painting, and live testimonies. Soup Kitchen seeks donations: The Clarkesville Soup Kitchen, a non-profit organization at 166 Ritchie Street, provides to-go meals six days a week to any individuals in need. The mission is to have no one in the community go hungry. The kitchen has served an average of 65 meals per day in July, and donations of non-perishable food items may be left at the soup kitchen Monday through Saturday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Mailed donations can go to P.O.
