Homecoming service set at Double Springs: Revival services at Double Springs Baptist Church will continue through Friday, Aug. 26, nightly beginning at 7 p.m. Guest preacher will be Wayne McKinney. Fight Against Addiction: A Fight Against Addiction Recovery Festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, from 2-5 p.m. in Demorest Park. VFW town hall meeting: The VFW Grant-Reeves Post 7720 will host a town hall meeting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at their headquarters (174 Cornelia Crossing in Cornelia) to discuss a possible VA clinic in Habersham County. There will be additional veterans’ healthcare issues discussed after the meeting.
Homecoming at Macedonia: Macedonia Baptist on New Liberty Road is celebrating their 168th Church Homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 28, beginning at 10:30 a.m. with dinner following the service. Dr. Charles Holland will be the guest speaker. All relatives of past members are welcome to celebrate with Macedonia members and friends.
Gospel singing: There will be a singing at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at Independent Baptist Church at 709 Old Athens Highway in Cornelia. Singers will be the Gipson Family Bluegrass Gospel.
Singing at Old Nacoochee: Old Nacoochee Baptist Church in Sautee will host a singing by Family of Grace at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 28. All are welcome.
Clarkesville Sip & Stroll: The next Sip & Stroll is Friday, Sept. 2, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Downtown Clarkesville entertainment district. This recurring event will take place on the first Friday of every month through October. Participating businesses will have extended business hours/drink specials, and there will be live entertainment.
Veterans jamboree: The VFW Grant-Reeves Post 7720 will host its annual Northeast Georgia Jamboree from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at 174 Cornelia Crossing in Cornelia. There will be plenty of fun for kids including bouncy houses and a magic show at 1 p.m.
Bible study starting Tuesday nights: There will be a Tuesday night Bible Study starting up on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. at River Point Community Church. The group has chosen to study the book of John this Fall. All denominations are welcome. Bring your Bible. For details, call 706-499-2023.
Blood drive: Farm Bureau Insurance will host a blood drive from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 7, at 3395 Camp Creek Road in Mt. Airy. Appointments can be made online but walk-ins are welcome.
Alpha course: Alpha is a series of group conversations at St. Thomas Anglican Church that explore the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly environment. It’s a place to connect with people, where you can say anything you like or nothing at all. Everyone’s welcome. Join them every Friday, starting Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. at the parish hall of Saint Thomas Anglican Church for a light meal and then Alpha for 11 weeks until Nov. 18.
