Festival in Lula: Lula Belton Historical Society presents 2022 Lula Fall Festival Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Come explore Lula in a fun weekend for the whole family. There will be local artisans and crafters, delicious food, children’s activities, live music and entertainment, and a concert. Location is at the Depot Community Center, 5911 Wall St. Lula.
Singing this Sunday: Friendly Mission Baptist Church in Cornelia will be hosting a singing featuring Steadfast out of Dahlonega this Sunday, Oct. 2, at 5 p.m. The church is located on Crane Mill Road between Pea Ridge and Mud Creek roads. All are welcome.
Three Arts Club to meet: The Three Arts Club will meet Thursday, Oct. 6, at 3:30 p.m. in Scoggins Hall at First Presbyterian Church on Etta Street in Cornelia. The program will be “The Many Faces of Art” presented by local artist Gail Denny.
Plant and treat sale: There will be a Habersham 4-H Plant and Treat sale on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Habersham Extension Office, 555 Monroe Street, Clarkesville, Georgia. Fundraiser for Sharing and Caring thrift store and local 4-H center.
VFW inside yard sale: The Grant-Reeves VFW Post 7720 Auxiliary will have an Inside Yard Sale located at 174 Cornelia Crossing Shopping Center off US 441 on Saturday, Oct. 8. All proceeds will go to “Wreaths Across America.” The primary goal is to raise enough for every grave in Grant-Reeves Memorial Park to have a wreath on it. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
Franklin Family Reunion set: The annual Franklin Family Reunion will be held Sunday, Oct. 9, at Antioch Baptist Church Christian Life Center. All family and friends are invited to bring a well-filled basket and join us for a time of fellowship. The meal will be served at 12:30 p.m. Please feel welcome to join us for our church service at 10 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church.
Flu shot clinic for seniors: Habersham County Department of Health and The Sunshine Band will be offering a flu shot clinic for senior citizens Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Student Ministry Building of Level Grove Baptist Church located at 1725 U.S. Hwy. 441 in Cornelia.
Train documentary showing again Oct. 15: Cornelia: A Train Town, a video documentary produced by Peter Madruga, will be shown Saturday, Oct. 15 from 2-4 p.m. at The Common Ground, 643 Irvin Street, Cornelia. Admission is free but seating is limited. RSVP to events@habershamhistory.org. Popcorn and drinks will be available.

Veterans and Patriots to meet: The Northeast Georgia Brotherhood of Veterans and Patriots will meet Saturday, Oct. 15, in the fellowship hall of Cornelia First Baptist Church. A complimentary breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 9 a.m. Breakfast is sponsored by Olga Vyrjikovskaia in memory of her husband, Norman Schneider, who served in the Army during the 1960s.
Instead of a speaker, we will watch a video interview that Genia Pittman and Edward Vaughn did in Jan. 2016 with Dank Whitlock, who served as an infantry squad leader in Burma during WWII, shortly before he passed away.

Benefit concert in Union County: A benefit concert for First Readers will be held at the Union County Fine Arts Center in Blairsville at 2 p.m. on Oct. 23 and will feature Sons of the Pioneers, one of the earliest Western singing groups in the United States who once had Roy Rogers as a member.
