Noah Hamil was hired as the new Cornelia Main Street Manager this week.
Hamil replaces Lindsey Fitzgerald, who left the position earlier this year. The Main Street Manager is responsible for organizing city events like Christmas in Cornelia, which is set for 4 p.m. Saturday.
Other events that Hamil will be organizing are the Big Red Apple Festival, the Downtown Trick-or-Treat and more. Through these events and marketing efforts, Hamil is looking to bring the city to a young audience.
“Noah is a fresh young face who the city hopes can help provide a new perspective and creative ideas. Noah is our target demographic, so his input will be imperative to making the vision of Cornelia come to fruition. We’re excited to see what he can do,” said Jessie Owensby, Cornelia’s Community Development Director.
Hamil will be responsible for overseeing the Downtown Development Authority, the Historic Preservation Commission, the Cornelia Hospitality and Tourism Board, and the Main Street program.
With Owensby focusing on city planning and other responsibilities in her role, and Hamil focusing on tourism as well as the downtown area, the two will look toward serving the city.
“I am very blessed to be offered this opportunity to serve the City of Cornelia. I look forward to collaborating with the community to make the town more special than it already is,” Hamil said.
Hamil’s office is located at the Cornelia Train Depot. He is already hard at work this week taking on his responsibilities with excitement.
