A free Thanksgiving meal will be served at the Cornelia Community House from 11:30 a.m. to around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Cornelia Fire Chief Billy Jenkins has helped organize the dinner for five straight years, including during the COVID-19 spike last year. Even with numbers improving, volunteers are hoping to deliver as many meals as possible or make them to-go, with limited seating at the Community House.
"It's really been beneficial for the community," Jenkins said. "It's something that a lot of people have come together to do."
Wolf Creek BBQ is smoking the turkeys for the event, and other businesses and individuals have helped donate their time and resources, Jenkins said.
"It's a great effort of the community coming together," Jenkins added.
