The Hispanic Alliance Georgia opened a new outreach center in Cornelia on Wednesday.
The new office was opened to help reach the Hispanic community of Habersham County without needing those patrons to visit their center in Hall County.
The Hispanic Alliance Georgia brings opportunities to the Hispanic community of Habersham County by offering assistance in seeking services involving literacy, vaccinations for COVID-19, providing culturally appropriate food to families, as well as legal and immigration services pro-bono.
The Hispanic Alliance also hosts events for the community, including a Latino Fest in Gainesville.
“Some people just don’t know the benefits they could have so we wanted to open (the center) so that people could come, anybody could come, and have them ask questions. We want to inform them on what we can help with and do,” said Daphne Teisier, Family Well-Being Specialist for The Hispanic Alliance Georgia.
Teisier will be working specifically with the Habersham County community.
Vanesa Sarazúa is the founder of The Hispanic Alliance Georgia and opened its first location, in Gainesville, in 2017. Sarazúa wanted to bring a center to Habersham County in hopes that not only they could be better served in their community by The Hispanic Alliance, but also to the other communities of Habersham County
The new center is located at 353 Chattahoochee St., Cornelia.
