The location of a bass fishing tournament, intended to raise funds for Demorest firefighter for 22-year-old Garrett Reiser and his family, has been changed.
The boat ramp for those participating in the fundraiser will now be located at Tugaloo State Park mega ramp at 1763 Tugaloo State Park Rd., Lavonia, GA, 30553.
Reiser was diagnosed with an advanced glioma – a rare form of cancer which often occurs on the brain or spinal cord – several months ago and has been given around 8 months to live.
It’s $70 to participate, and there will not be any payouts to participants in the tournament, as every dollar of the funds raised will go to support Reiser’s family.
Those who’d like to join the effort to support Reiser and his family through participation in the tournament, set to take place around 6 a.m., Aug. 27, can visit the Baldwin Fire Department for a flier or call Jacob Roy at 706-768-8503.
Folks do not have to participate in the tournament to contribute to the fundraiser.
Weigh-in for the tournament will take place at noon.
Donations can also be made at the Demorest Fire Department at (706) 754-7563.
