Chastain named successor to Krockum, will be Demorest Police chief March 1

Demorest Assistant Police Chief Casey Chastain had family and friends gathered Tuesday night to celebrate his hiring as the next chief of police.

In the wake of Demorest Police Chief Robin Krockum's impending retirement, Demorest City Council approved Assistant Chief Casey Chastain as his successor beginning March 1 at Tuesday's meeting.

Chastain was joined by many friends, family and fellow officers and he was congratulated by Mayor Jerry Harkness and the council.
