Pastor Joyce Acree and President of Cornelia Soup Kitchen Christy Bowen accept a check from Alta Moseley, Demorest Methodist Congregational Federated Church Treasurer. SUBMITTED
The Demorest Methodist Congregational Federated Church continues its quarterly campaigns to raise and distribute funds to local charities. The second quarter in 2022 is dedicated to the Cornelia Soup Kitchen.
Recently, Rev. Joyce Acree and Treasurer Alta Moseley met with Christy Bowen, president of Cornelia Soup Kitchen, to discuss the needs of the organization and to present this Soup Kitchen with a check for $1,000 in support of their outreach in our county.
“Donations of all kinds are so appreciated,” Bowen said. “Monetary donations help us keep the lights on and equipment operational as well as keep our pantry stocked. Food donations are so very valuable as food is our greatest expense. Donations of time is one of our most pressing needs right now. We need teams of 4-5 people willing to serve once a month. Without these willing hands, the food can’t get to the people that need it.”
Anyone interested in lending a hand may contact the organization at corneliasoup@gmail.com. Additionally, a website has been provided for donations: https://corneliasoup.wixsite.com/website.
Bowen, who is also the Marketing & Talent director at Cornelia Chick-fil-A, emphasized that the Cornelia Soup Kitchen has long been known as a charity who helps people in need and she encourages those in the community willing to help with this mission to reach out to them through the email or website.
