Clarkesville couple arrested again on drug trafficking charges

A Clarkesville couple who have run afoul of the law before on drug charges were arrested again Wednesday after a chase with law enforcement officers.
Habersham County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a car on Highway 115 in Demorest for a traffic violation.
The car attempted to elude deputies and was eventually stopped after deputies utilized a PIT maneuver. Prior to the car being stopped, a bag was thrown from the window and was eventually recovered by police. The bag contained three ounces of suspected heroin and five ounces of suspected methamphetamine. A quantity of suspected Xanax pills were also recovered.
Andrew Nelson Dover, 45, and Alisha Gay Dover, 41, of Clarkesville were arrested. Andrew Dover was transported to the Habersham County Hospital due to the fact that he possibly swallowed some of the heroin at the time of the traffic stop. Alisha Dover was transported to the Habersham County Detention Center.
The arrests were made as the culmination of a several month-long drug trafficking investigation conducted by the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO).
Andrew Dover is charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking heroin, possession with intent to distribute a schedule IV drug, tampering with evidence, fleeing and attempting to elude, along with DUI and other traffic related offenses.
Alisha Dover is charged with trafficking methamphetamine and trafficking heroin.
The value of the suspected methamphetamine and suspected heroin seized in this investigation is approximately $6,600.
In November 2020, the couple were arrested after they allegedly brought more than $11,000 of heroin to Habersham County from Atlanta.
The investigation is still active and ongoing.
