Worship services

Clarkesville First United Methodist Church will have One Service in the Sanctuary, through July 30 at 10 a.m. each day. All are welcome to worship. Bring a friend.

Supplies for Homeschoolers

There will be a Homeschool Supply Giveaway at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at the School of Future Arts in Clarkesville. The giveaway is a service of Clarkesville Reformed Baptist Church.

Bible Study on Tuesdays

Tuesday night Bible Study will begin on Aug. 1, at River Point Community Church at 7 p.m. This group voted to study Colossians. All denominations are welcome. Bring your Bible.

Quilter meeting

Gold Rush Quilters will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 2 at Friendship Baptist Church, 3513 Westmoreland Road, Cleveland. For details, contact carold1230@gmail.com.

School supply drive

Demorest City Hall is holding a school supply drive drop through Aug. 3 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. All donated supplies will go to the counselors at Demorest Elementary School where they will then be distributed to students in need. Bring supplies to 250 Alabama Street in Demorest.

Revival coming

Macedonia Baptist Church will be hosting its summer Revival through July 28 beginning at 7 p.m. The Rev. Gary English will be bringing the message. The church address is 6396 New Liberty Road, Clarkesville.

Resource event

The Tim Lee Boys & Girls Club will host a resource event for the families on Thursday, July 27, from 3-7 p.m. The club would like to invite anyone who would like to join them to set up a table in the gym that evening. New Hope Revival

Everyone is welcome to a revival at New Hope Baptist Church at 5040 Pea Ridge Road in Cornelia from Aug. 6-11. Service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, and at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, Aug. 7-11. Visiting preacher will be Joey Wigley. Pastor Robert Nix and the church invites you to come and worship in spirit and truth.

Elvis festival in Cornelia

See the World’s Largest Elvis Belt Returning to its roots here in Cornelia where it began 23 years ago, the 19th Big E Festival & Elvis Tribute Artists Competition will be held at the Food Factory on Main Street in Cornelia on Aug. 4-6. The festival starts on Friday with tours of the Loudermilk Boarding House Museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Then on to the Food Factory for a Meet & Greet from 5-6 p.m. The concert begins at 7 p.m. with World Champion David Lee from Birmingham, Ala., along with 2022 Big E winner Jordan Poole and Youth winner Grey Galloway. Saturday at noon the ETA Competition begins with doors open at 11 a.m.

A Country Jamboree Dinner will take place Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Food Factory with food included in ticket price. This event will feature tributes to Conway Twitty, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Ronnie Milsap, Tanya Tucker plus an array of country stars. Western attire is suggested but not required. 50th reunion coming

Habersham Central High School’s Class of 1973 will host its 50th reunion Saturday, Aug. 19, from 3-6 p.m. at Cowboys and Angels Restaurant in Helen. For more information, go online to the Habersham Central Class of 1973 Facebook page.

United Way Clay Shoot

Habersham United Way’s Fall Charity Sporting Clay Shoot will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30. The event, held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2320 Hardman Road in Clarkesville, will have a few additions. The shoot will include a 16/17 age group. Note that minors must have an accompanying parent or guardian and waivers will be required. Participants can partake in mobile axe throwing as well. Habersham Toastmasters Club

Members overcome their fear of public speaking and learn skills that aid them in becoming more self-confident. Habersham Toastmasters meets on the second and forth Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM on ZOOM and in person. Parkinson’s support group

The Northeast Georgia Parkinson’s Support Group is designed to help Parkinson’s patients and their caregivers. The group meets at 6 p.m. the last Monday of each month at “The Station,” 1725 Highway 441 Bypass in Cornelia at Level Grove Baptist. For details, call David McLendon at 706-455-6485.

Limited Cornelia UMC food pantry shopping

The free food pantry at Cornelia United Methodist Church will be open the first three Thursdays each month. Time is 1-2:30 p.m. One shopper per household per month.

English as Second Language classes
