Movie night helps charity
Baldwin will host Movie in the Market at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25. Bring chairs and blankets to the Baldwin Farmers Market for a free showing of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Light concessions will be available with proceeds going to “Shop With a Hero.”
Revival ongoing
Double Springs Baptist Church will host a revival through Friday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. each night. Guest preacher will be Kenny Kilby. Pastor Wesley Purcell and the congregation would like to invite everyone to attend.
Story trail opens Sunday
The City of Cornelia and Pebble Ministry Inc. will celebrate the grand opening of the Cornelia City Park Story Trail at 3 p.m. Sunday Aug. 27. The Story Trail, provided through a grant from AARP, is a great addition to the park promoting exercise, family, community, and education. The first book to be featured on the Story Trail is “Mama Bird Papa Bird” by White County author Wanda Obermeier. Homecoming celebration

The September business meeting of the Gold Rush Quilters will be held Wednesday, Sept. 6, in the community room of Friendship Baptist Church, Cleveland Georgia. Social gathering at 9:30 a.m., with a business meeting at 10 a.m.
Fall Festival accepting vendors
The City of Baldwin is now accepting vendors for its 6th annual Fall Festival on Oct. 21. The city welcomes food trucks, crafters and non-profits to sign up for a booth. The application is available online at www.cityofbaldwin.org or by emailing baldwinevents@cityofbaldwin.org.
Rifle competition set
Georgia Wildlife Resources Division will host a Northeast Georgia Open Rifle Competition on Saturday, Sept. 23, with sign-in beginning at 8:30 a.m. The competition is open to any caliber rifle up to .50 BMG, and it is a 100-yard competition. There will be three shooting positions and six shots each. Registration opens Aug. 1 and participants must be 18 years or older and have a valid hunting or fishing license with Georgia. United Way Clay Shoot
Habersham United Way’s Fall Charity Sporting Clay Shoot will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30. The event, held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2320 Hardman Road in Clarkesville, will have a few additions. The shoot will include a 16/17 age group. Note that minors must have an accompanying parent or guardian and waivers will be required. Participants can partake in mobile axe throwing as well. The free food pantry at Cornelia United Methodist Church will be open the first three Thursdays each month. Time is 1-2:30 p.m. One shopper per household per month.

CASA seeks volunteers
Northeast GA CASA is seeking volunteers to be trained as Court Appointed Special Advocates for children in foster care. As a CASA volunteer you will impact the lives of young people in your community by advocating for their best interest. The training will prepare you for the challenging and fulfilling role of speaking on behalf of abused and neglected children in the foster care system.
Children benefit from the diversity of our volunteers and their varied and unique approaches to connecting with young people. Volunteers must be over the age of 21 and be able to pass a background check.
