   Demorest Fire Chief Jonathan Knight resigned suddenly Friday afternoon, City Manager Mark Musselwhite said.

   City officials did not disclose reasons for his resignation, citing personnel confidentiality. Knight's resignation letter was one sentence and was written on a piece of notebook paper.

   Knight has been the fire chief since September 2021 after taking over on an interim basis for Ken Ranalli, who resigned previously.
