Demorest Fire Chief Ranalli resigns

Demorest Fire Chief Ken Ranalli explains the features of his truck earlier this year.

In a surprise move, Demorest Fire Chief Ken Ranalli resigned his post Tuesday after more than 10 years of service.

Ranalli also works as a firefighter in DeKalb County and has been in the firefighting business his entire life.

“The City of Demorest has benefitted in ways that most citizens will never understand in terms of his service and where he’s brought this department from and where he is leaving it,” Mayor Rick Austin said.

No interim chief was named after a lengthy executive session Tuesday night.
