   Habersham County got two new female mayors to highlight Tuesday's municipal election results.

   Stephanie Almagno officially will move from the council to the mayor's seat in Baldwin, defeating challenger Tom Whitney with 63 percent of the vote. Patricia Gail Armour unseated P.J. Huggins as Alto's mayor, winning by eight votes.

   Demorest's two winning councilmen are incumbent Donnie Bennett and Jimmy L. Davis, as former councilman Jim Welborn missed another shot on the council by four votes.

   Keith Green, Mike McCoy and Adam Tullis all held onto their seats in Mt. Airy, fending off challenger Lerlene Dodd.

   Don Nix defeated Jessamie Vincent soundly for the open seat on Clarkesville's city council.

   Cornelia voters approved redevelopment powers with 61 percent of the vote.
