The Habersham County Commission approved a request for proposal for a new public safety radio system that will cost a little more than $9.6 million.
The official contract for the system will be presented next month to lock in the plan to replace the current outdated system with one that guarantees 95 percent coverage in the county.
Of the purchase price, $7.2 million will come from the county’s SPLOST VII bond and the rest will pay out of American Rescue Plan funds.
