Habersham County eyes new leadership

Habersham County's Board of Commissioners met for more than two hours Thursday night to discuss the possibility of an interim county manager and a new clerk.

After coming out of executive session, the commission voted 3-1 to enter negotiations with former Catoosa County Manager Alicia Vaughn, who was the sole candidate to interview Thursday after three others did previously.

Vaughn was also formerly Whitfield County’s finance director and the city of Dalton’s assistant finance director.

Chairman Dustin Mealor called her resume “very impressive.”

The commission was scheduled to interview a seventh candidate for clerk, but the candidate did not show up. That appointment was tabled until July 19 as it will have to be readvertised.
