The season of joy is upon us and Habersham County will be offering plenty of opportunities to celebrate Christmas with various local events for the whole family.

Mt. Airy celebrated its tree lighting with a visit from Santa Claus and caroling on Tuesday night, while Alto did the same Thursday after The Northeast Georgian’s press time.

There are plenty of holiday events left around the county for cheerful residents to enjoy over the next week.

Tallulah Falls Christmas Celebration

A potluck dinner will take place tonight in the town hall at 6 p.m. followed by the floating Christmas tree lighting at 7 p.m. Attendees can also enjoy a bonfire, Christmas caroling, visiting Santa and hayrides.

Cornelia

Cornelia Connextion Church will host “The Grinch” movie night in conjunction with the Cornelia Business Association tonight. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts 7 p.m. There will be free popcorn, hot chocolate and cookies.

Next week, families will be able to attend Christmas in the Park at Cornelia Community House Dec. 12-14 — hours vary.

There will be hayrides, holiday market, snow play, photos with Santa and more.

Baldwin

The Habersham County Christmas Parade will take place in the city of Baldwin this year at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.

The city will then host its annual Christmas tree lighting immediately after the parade.

Clarkesville

“A Downtown Clarkesville Christmas” is Dec. 14 from 6-8 p.m. There will be a tree lighting, photos with Santa, s’mores, caroling, hot cocoa and cider, and extended shopping hours.
