Peaceful protest planned for Clarkesville today

  • Members of the community came out Wednesday evening to join Daniel Vega of Cornelia in a George Floyd Memorial 10K to support the black community and lives of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and other African Americans. Vega said this was a way to start the conversation addressing the division in the U.S. The runners and children on bicycles began at City Hall in Cornelia to go all the way to Walmart and back. The Cornelia Police Department attended to help ensure a safe escort as they were near busy streets.
