Qualifying to reopen Monday for Cornelia seat

Qualifying will reopen Monday morning for one seat in Habersham County.

No one qualified to run for the Cornelia City Commission Ward 2 seat by today’s noon deadline, requiring the Habersham County Elections and Registration Office to reopen qualifying for that seat only Monday, Aug. 25 and Tuesday, Aug. 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The seat is currently held by Janice Griggs. Candidates must live within the ward. The qualifying fee is $72, and candidates must sign up to run at the elections office, 403 Habersham County Shopping Center in Cornelia.
