The Sautee Nacoochee Community Association announced this week that the Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia and the Sautee Nacoochee Cultural Center are now Blue Star Museums.
Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums across America. Blue Star Families is a national, nonprofit network of military families from all ranks and services, including guard and reserve, dedicated to supporting, connecting, and empowering military families.
Kevin McGrath of Sautee, a member of the SNCA Board of Directors and a retired Marine, said he was “excited about the Blue Star Museum program as a way to recognize and thank both local veterans and those visiting Northeast Georgia.” He noted that a Nielsen survey ranked Georgia as 9th with veteran residents.
