The search for Ciera Locklair Breland has entered its second month, but family members are not giving up.
Ciera, who is a native of Habersham County, has been missing since Feb. 24. She was last seen in Johns Creek near her mother-in-law’s home after traveling from Indiana with her husband Xavier Breland Jr., their 6 month-old son Jaxson and their dog.
Her cousin Luke Locklair is organizing a search group for Ciera in Johns Creek on Saturday, April 2, beginning at 10 a.m. That was the last place she was confirmed to be, and the FBI said there was no evidence she ever returned to Indiana.
“I am setting up the places today we’ll be searching,” Luke Locklair said. “We’re searching everywhere around his mom’s that I think would be good places to look at. We haven’t heard anything about where to search from law enforcement so we’re just going to different places and bringing a lot of people to help.”
The search group is meeting at 6000 Medlock Bridge Pkwy in Alpharetta on Saturday.
The family stopped off to see Ciera’s parents in White County on Feb. 19, and she indicated at the time that she was scared and wanted to move home to Georgia. They then drove to Johns Creek for a visit with Xavier’s mother on Feb. 20. Her family has not seen her since.
“She told us she wanted to come home,” her father Nick Locklair said. “She said she was never going back to Indiana.”
Xavier Breland is being held without bail in Coweta County on a charge of aggravated stalking, and he has been named a person of interest by the FBI in the case of Ciera’s disappearance.
CBS46 in Atlanta released text messages Ciera sent to family members in the weeks before she went missing.
“Xavier is nuts. If anything happens to me, he is responsible,” one of the most chilling texts read.
In a video released by Channel 2 news in Atlanta, Xavier made cryptic comments on a Zoom chat with his children from a prior relationship.
“My wife was kidnapped,” he said. “Do you know what that means when an adult gets kidnapped? She’s not coming home, bud.”
The FBI in Atlanta is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to her whereabouts, as she has been missing since Feb. 24.
