Sheriff’s Office searching for suspects in theft

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office is searching for multiple suspects involved in a burglary.
Lt. Matt Wurtz with HCSO said the initial incident occurred on Dec. 7, 2019 between 11:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. at the Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center in Clarkesville.
“It appears that the suspect forced entry into a Chevrolet suburban and took a purse,” he said.
The suspect was last seen wearing a beanie and all black at Walmart in Cornelia on Dec. 7 using the victim’s credit card.
The only description provided is that suspect is African American. “The pictures aren't clear enough to depict male or female,” Wurtz said.
He added that the suspect was the passenger in a newer model Chevrolet Equinox.
“Due to the suspect at Walmart getting out of the passenger side of the vehicle and the vehicle continuing to move around while the suspect was inside there is more than one person involved,” Wurtz said. “We have no information currently on any other suspects.”
If anyone has any information they should contact Investigator Chance Oxner at 706-839-0560.
