SHMS principal announces retirement

Daphne Penick

After over 30 years at South Habersham Middle School, Principal and Counseling Coordinator Daphne Penick is retiring at the end of May 2026.

Penick has held many roles in her three decades with South Habersham: student, teacher, counselor, administrator. Now, Penick will be passing the torch at the end of the year to someone who she hopes takes South Habersham Middle School to the next level while fostering what it means to be part of the South Habersham family.
