Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams will be visiting Habersham County as part of a North Georgia visit spearheading Fair Fight Action Team voter advocacy efforts.

Abrams is scheduled to speak Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Habersham County Parks and Recreation Department, located at 120 Paul Franklin Road in Clarkesville (Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center). The Fair Fight Action Team will present at 5:25 p.m., with Abrams to speak at 5:45 p.m.

Doors will open at 4:45 p.m. Early arrivals are encouraged due to limited seating.

Attendees are asked for donations to cover the event cost, with proceeds going to Ninth District Democratic Party county chairs.

Abrams is also slated to make stops during the day in North Georgia, joined by district party county chairs and 2019 and 2020 political candidates.

Abrams, the 2018 Democratic nominee for governor, narrowly lost the election to Republican and then-Georgia secretary of state Brian Kemp. During the race, which drew national attention, Abrams claimed voter suppression tactics tainted the result. An announcement for the upcoming event stated, “Abrams and Fair Fight Action team will be fighting voter suppression this year and next in many states across the country including Georgia.”
