Thursday night's special-called County Commission meeting

Habersham County's Board of Commissioners passed their county pay study Thursday night, providing countywide raises for their employees, much to the delight of the dozens of them who attended in a packed-house meeting.

The implementation of the raises will cost the county just under the $800,000 originally budgeted for fiscal year 2023.

The commissioners - only three of which attended - also voted unanimously to add the positions requested by recreation director Brooke Whitmire.

Read more about the meeting and its long-term implications in the Dec. 7 midweek edition of The Northeast Georgian.
