Tullis submits resignation, intends to run for mayor

Mt. Airy Councilman Adam Tullis said he will officially be putting up a bid for the mayor’s seat. Current Mayor Ray McAllister announced that he would likely not seek reelection this year. Tullis has been a councilmember in Mt. Airy for 14 years, and has officially submitted his resignation from the council, to take effect on Aug. 17.

“By resigning now, it allows the city to save money by holding the special election for my seat at the same time as the regular election,” Tullis told The Northeast Georgian.
