Victim in Baldwin shooting dies as GBI investigates

A Baldwin man died from gunshot wounds Sunday night, according to Baldwin Police Chief Jeff Branyon.

Officers with the Baldwin Police Department responded to the call between 9-10 p.m. at a mobile home park off West Airport Road. First responders treated the victim at the scene before he was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The case has been turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, according to Branyon.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim or a potential motive of the suspected shooter, as the investigation is still ongoing.

The GBI said they would release information later Monday.
