Former Cornelia Elementary School Principal Dr. Darlene Hudson was appointed to the Habersham County Board of Education as an interim member and Dr. Adam Bagwell was named the new principal of Habersham Central High School.
The announcement was made at a special called meeting on Monday morning.
Hudson retired from Habersham County Schools on May 31 where she was administrator at six different schools since 2005. A special election for the school board seat will be held on Nov. 5 with qualifying happening later this summer. Hudson said it is her current plan to officially run for the seat this fall.
Bagwell worked as assistant principal at HCHS for three years before becoming principal at North Habersham Middle School where he has worked for the last five years.
The two positions opened up following Kristie Dover’s resignation from the school board in February and former HCHS principal Jonathan Stribling’s announcement in May that he was leaving to become assistant superintendent for White County Schools.
