Funeral services for Agnes J. Funk Powell, 84, of Mt. Airy, were held Thursday, Sept. 19, at Hillside Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Larry Ryals and the Rev. Raymond Payne officiated with interment following the service in Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery.  

Mrs. Powell passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2019, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born March 21, 1935, in Mt. Airy, she was the daughter of the late Godfrey Martin Funk and Essie Pearl Hefner Funk. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy J. Powell; sister, Emma Mae Hunter; brothers and sisters-in-law, Godfrey Martin Funk Jr. and Patty Funk, and William Harvey Funk and Hazel Funk; sister, Betty Jean Funk; brothers, Ralph Funk and George Arthur Funk; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Chambers.

Mrs. Powell was formerly employed with Riegel Textiles/Mt. Vernon Mills and she was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her health prevented her from attending. Mrs. Powell had a heart for others, loved making pound cakes and taking them to elderly church members, and she also enjoyed traveling to the mountains. 

Survivors include her son, Raymond Allan Greene of Mt. Airy; step-sons, Jerry Powell of Baldwin and Jimmy Powell of Demorest; brother and sister-in-law, James and Donna Funk of Homer; sister, Bonnie Chambers of Lilburn; sister-in-law, Mary Funk of Cornelia; grandchildren, Kendall Greene, Aspen Greene, Jody Powell and Jamie Powell; one great-grandchild; special friends, Larry and Cheryl Smith, Mildred Moss and Ann King; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends.
