Funeral services for Alpha Jane Allen Evans, 80, of Mt. Airy were held Thursday, Sept. 12, at Hillside Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Wayne Turk officiated with interment following the service in Hillside Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Evans passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2019, following an extended illness.
Born April 23, 1939, in Demorest, she was the daughter of the late Waring Samuel and Addie Pearl Franklin Allen.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Evans is preceded in death by sisters, Naomi Allen and Barbara Williams; brothers-in-law, Charles Williams, Raymond Dill, and Horace Lewallen.
Mrs. Evans was of the Christian faith and retired from Clarkesville Mill where she was a creeler.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Evans of Mt. Airy; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Donna Evans of Clarkesville, and Steve and Lisa Evans of Mt. Airy; brother and sister-in-law, Grady and Helen Allen of Mt. Airy; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jessie Dill of Mt. Airy, Sarah Lewallen of Lula, Mary and Neal Smith of Banks County, and Omalee and Sherman Smith of Banks County; grandchildren, Becky and Steven Caudell, T.J. and Kristen Evans, April and Chris Standridge, Kyle and Kayla Evans, and Jacob Evans; great-grandchildren, Addie Caudell, Cooper, Macy and Colton Smith, Kelsie Hanley, Kylee and Kaci Evans, Ariel and Thomas Standridge, and Makenzie and Dawson Evans; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
