Funeral services for Annie Louise Carpenter Adams, 96, of Demorest, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Burrell officiating. Interment will follow in Demorest City Cemetery.
Mrs. Adams passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, after a wonderful life.
Born May 31, 1923, in Cornelia, she was the daughter of the late Rev. John Pickney and Elsie Mae Flanagan Carpenter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Vermon William Adams; son, James M. Adams; brothers, Grady, George, Richard, James (Jimmy), John Jr. and Oscar Carpenter.
Family and church were her greatest loves. A day rambling the back roads with her children and grandchildren brought her great joy. A casual invitation to ride and she was ready to go. She served as WMU director, VBS director and Sunday school teacher while a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and later Level Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children and spouses, John Bill and Claudine Adams of Cornelia, Jerry and Linda Adams of Demorest, Glenn and Sherry Adams of Mobile, Alabama, Tom Adams of Athens, and Nancy Adams of Demorest; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and sister, Jane Carpenter Henson of Suwanee.
The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour Wednesday at the funeral home.
