A celebration of life service for Annie Rose Davis, 90, was held Sunday, July 11, at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home, Cleveland. Burial followed the service at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, Clarkesville. The Rev. Don Drawdy officiated.

Mrs. Davis passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021.

Born Jan. 27, 1931, in Sautee Nacoochee, she was the daughter of the late Lester Job Allen and Clara Berrong Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kirk H. Davis; and siblings, Marie Allen McCord, Ethel Allen Stephens, and Arthur Allen.

Annie graduated from Nacoochee High School and Piedmont College with an education degree. She went on to teach for 40 years with the White County School System. She absolutely loved teaching. Having lifelong relationships and contact with former students brought her much joy. In more recent years, with four grandchildren, she became known as our beloved "Meme." Meme left some hard shoes to be filled in many ways. One area of expertise that she possessed was in the kitchen. Meme was an outstanding cook and brought joy to many with her meals and especially her desserts. Meme was an active member of Providence Baptist Church for over 55 years.

Survivors include her son, Allen Davis (Roslyn) of Clarkesville; her daughter, Sheila Davis Hall (Steve) of Alpharetta; four grandchildren, Kirk Davis (Lindsay) of Ponte Vedra, Florida, Cody Davis of Norcross, Meredith Hall of Brookhaven, and Natalie Hall of Athens; sisters, Betty Allen Tatum and Edith Allen Sliger of Clarkesville; cousin (who was more like a sister) Frankie Allen of Helen; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Betty Davis of Dawsonville. The family extends sincere appreciation for many years of outstanding care to Dr. Shane Bussler and his nurse, Candy Lawrence, along with the best God sent caregivers, Kim Smith and Sarah Cross.

Meme loved bright colors. In honor of her well lived 90 years, the family requested everyone wear bright colors to her Celebration of Life. Any of her former students were welcomed to share a fond memory at the service.
