Graveside services for Ardis Jane Dodgson Thompson, 93, of Clarkesville, and Highlands, North Carolina, were held Monday, Oct. 19, at Highlands City Cemetery, Highlands, North Carolina with the Rev. Chip Cranford, officiating.
Mrs. Thompson passed away Oct. 12, 2020.
Born Dec. 7, 1926, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Alvin J. and Edna Waugh Thompson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Thompson; brother, Lewis Dodgson; and nephew, Daniel Thompson.
Mrs. Thompson earned her bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University and she was a homemaker. Mrs. Thompson was an avid painter and she loved to write poetry. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and had been across the Atlantic Ocean 26 times.
Survivors include nephews, David Thompson (Tracy) of Clarkesville, and Matthew Thompson (Joan) of Mesa, Arizona; nieces, Jackie Thompson of Portage, Michigan, and Karen Lockheart of Plainfield, Illinois; sister-in-law, Sally Dodgson of Richland, Michigan; as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews.
