Funeral services for Benton Jacob Fry, 84, of Mt. Airy, are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Pastor Ronnie Powell and Mr. Scott Fry officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

  Mr. Fry passed away Friday, June 18, 2021.

    Born Oct. 4, 1936, in Clarkesville, he was a son of the late Hendricks Houston Hink Fry and Marjorie Lillian Margie Burrell Fry. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fry was also preceded in death by brothers, Douglas "Doug" Keith Fry and Roy Hendrix Fry.

  Mr. Fry was retired having worked for Stewart Finance. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served four years on the USS Pickaway. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and was a Mason. Mr. Fry was in the Mounted Sheriff's Posse and also provided security for the Walenda Walk and the Mountain Laurel Festival. In 1972 and 1973, he managed APY for Habersham County. He was an avid reader who enjoyed trips to the library.

`Survivors include brother, Jim Fry of Greer, South Carolina; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott Fry (Jennifer) of Oro Valley, Arizona, and Joel Fry (Sherry) of Clarkesville; daughters and son-in-law, Tarra Fry Davey (Dustin) of Canton, and Laura Fry of Mt. Airy; seven grandchildren;  three great-grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; several nieces, nephews, other friends and relatives.

Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, 6396 New Liberty Road, Clarkesville, GA 30523.
