There will be a graveside service for Bobby Britton Turner, 84, of Demorest, held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 15, at Return Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Cochran officiating.

  Mr. Turner passed away from this life and went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 12, 2022.

  Born May 20, 1938, in White County, he was the son of the late Marvin and Ruby Haynes Turner. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by brothers and sister-in-law, Thomas (Ophelia) Turner, and Larry Turner; and brother-in-law, Alton Wofford.

Bobby was retired after many years as a skilled carpenter. He enjoyed working with his hands, and some of his hobbies included woodworking, and tinkering with radios and TVs. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching westerns, particularly Gunsmoke. He especially loved spending time with his family and his cat, Girlie.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Wade Turner of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Regina and the Rev. Michael Cochran of Clarkesville; granddaughters, Chelsea and Philip Wilkes of Mt. Airy, Sarah and Eli Benton of Mt. Airy; great-grandsons, Lawson and Hunter Wilkes of Mt. Airy; sister, Joyce Wofford of Cleveland; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family would like to thank those who were caregivers over the past few years, Habersham Medical Home Care; The Oaks at Scenic View; and also, family members, Peggy Wood and Sheri Fancher.
