Funeral services for Brenda Joan Franklin James, 74, of Mt. Airy, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Connie Berry officiating. Interment will follow in Victory Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Shane Jenkins officiating at the graveside.

    Mrs. James went home to be with the Lord Monday, Sept. 27, 2021.

  Born Aug. 11, 1947, at the Charm House in Clarkesville, she was a daughter of the late Gladston Terrell Sr. and Gussie Mae Alexander Franklin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gladston Terrell Franklin Jr.; and great-grandson, Clyde James Loudermilk.

Brenda worked as an insurance clerk/receptionist for the Habersham Medical Group with over 37 years of dedicated service. In her spare time, she enjoyed bird watching, flower and vegetable gardening as well as canning. She was a devoted wife, mother, and was affectionately known as "Meme" to all of her grandchildren. Brenda was a charter member of the Victory Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 54 ½ years, Tommy James; children, Greg and Connie James, Kimberly and James Loudermilk, and Kristy Nation, all of Mt. Airy; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Janie Franklin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Eleanor and Wally Owens, and Teresa and Keith Allen, all of Mt. Airy; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Margaret Jenkins of Mt. Airy, and Sherry and Ted Roberts of Maysville; grandchildren, Dedra Ramirez, Eric James, Megan and Cody Goss, Alex and Kinleigh Loudermilk, Clara Loudermilk, Ben Loudermilk, John Thomas Nation, Cheyenne Nation, and Kassie Nation; great-grandson, Waylon Loudermilk; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
