Graveside services for Brinkley Leona Elizabeth Laws McNeal, 84, of Valdosta, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, at Sunset Hill Cemetery with the Rev. David Tart officiating.

  Mrs. McNeal passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at her home. 

  Born July 24, 1936, in Valdosta, she was the daughter of the late Eddie and Brinkley Laws. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandchild, Ryan Alexander Braswell.

  In her childhood she lived for a short time in Northern Illinois during World War II, then returned to Valdosta. Mrs. McNeal graduated from Valdosta High School and in 1968 received her Master of Education from the University of Georgia. Following that, she lived in Banks County where she taught in the surrounding counties for over 25 years. Mrs. McNeal then moved back to Valdosta in 1991 where she taught at Valdosta Middle School until her retirement. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Churches of Cornelia and Valdosta, and a current member of First United Methodist of Valdosta. She was also a member of the Bible Study Fellowship and served on the boards of the ACTO and TEACH service organizations.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Walter Paul McNeal; her children and their spouses, Paul and Debi McNeal, Tommy and Kim McNeal, Brinkley and Jack Blair, and  Dolores and Jody Braswell; her grandchildren,  Andrew and Shelby McNeal, Joshua and Alina McNeal, Emily and Joseph Wetherington, Laura Beth and Elliott Sweat, Randy, Brinkley, and Mitchell Blair, and James and Matthew Braswell; great-grandchildren,  Brycen and Carver Wetherington, and Tripp and Collins Sweat;  brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Ruth Laws; sister, Loudelle Laws and daughters, Susie and Dixie Milner; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy and Cynthia McNeal; nephew and niece, Larry and Linda Gail Jones; and beloved family friend, Anthony Adams.
