A celebration of life service for Candace "Candy" Bacon Cordella, 68, of Mount Airy, was held Tuesday, Sept. 10, at The Torch Church of God, Demorest.

Mrs. Cordella passed away Sept. 5, 2019.

Born May 25, 1951, in Winchester, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Margaret and Frederick Bacon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Scott Bacon and Calvert Bacon; and sister-in-law Linda Bacon.

Candy graduated from Reading High School and studied at Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts. Candy married Paul David Cordella Feb. 14, 1985, in Hermosa Beach, California, and in 1988 they had their son, Calvert Scott Cordella.

She volunteered for the Save Our Seabirds organization in St. Petersburg, Florida. In 2017, Candy was named "Volunteer of the Year" for The Circle of Hope, a domestic abuse agency. She was a Georgia state representative for the Parkinson's Action Network.

Candy was a successful print and television model and worked as a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines. She retired in 2008 from Bulova Watch Company as a merchandising manager.

Paul and Candy, both originally from Massachusetts, met in California where they were both working. They moved back to Massachusetts where Scott was born, then relocated to Florida in 1996 when Scott was seven years old. In 2008, Paul and Candy retired to Mt. Airy.

They enjoyed traveling and visited 63 countries together. She was an avid Boston sports fan and loved walking on the beach collecting shells, boating and social gatherings with friends. Candy loved her two papillons, Choochie and Cookie.

Candy is survived by her loving husband, Paul; son, Scott and his wife, Megan; sister-in-law, Lydia Calipolis (Charlie); and her two children, Amy and Fred.

Habersham Crematory of Cornelia was in charge of arrangements.
