A memorial service will be held at a later date for Carolyn J. Mason, 84, of Clarkesville, at Grace- Calvary Church in Clarkesville where she was an active and long-time member.
On March 21, 2022, Mrs. Mason passed away with Andrew E. Mason and Pamela Mason Lane by her side in Florida.
She was born Nov. 9, 1937 in New York to Eugene and Lucetta Smith. She was met in heaven by her husband Philip A. Mason (Al) and her son, Scott A. Mason, along with many other family and friends.
Carol became an accomplished ballerina. Her first love changed from ballet to her husband, Al, when they met in Miami and married April 1, 1956. Their marriage was full of adventure from traveling the U.S. in RVs to becoming long-haul truck drivers when Al's airline pilot career with Eastern Airlines abruptly ended. She endured tragedy in her life, but always persevered, finding comfort in the Lord and joy in all of her grandchildren. She remained active by participating in exercise classes and volunteering at Sharing and Caring. After losing the love of her life in 2015, Carol looked forward each year to spending winters in Florida.
Carol was Nana to four grandchildren: Tristen A. Lane (26) and Maicey Kay Lane (19)-children of Keith and Pam Lane of North Carolina and Eliya (15) and Simeon Henson (13)-children of Jennifer Henson (North Carolina) and Scott Mason (deceased). She was "Aunt Carol" to Diana Fulton (and her son Steven) and Julie Hagerman and cousin to Joe Clark.
