A graveside service for Charles Thomas Welborn, 73, of Cornelia, was held Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Level Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Military honors were provided by the Grant Reeves VFW Post No. 7720, American Legion Post No. 84, Rabun County D.A.V. Chapter No. 15, and the United States Army.

  Mr. Welborn passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2020.

  Born Dec. 17, 1947, at the Charm House in Clarkesville, he was a son of the late Thomas C. and Jessie Smith Welborn. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Glen Welborn.

    Charles served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a Real Estate Broker for many years and was an entrepreneur of various businesses throughout his life including most recent years as the owner of Runway Fish House in Baldwin. Charles enjoyed golf, fishing, landscaping his yards, his antique cars, and precious time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Evelyn Short Welborn of Cornelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Kristin and John London of Cornelia, and Jennifer and Jeremy Williams of Gainesville; brother, Harry Lee Welborn of Alto; sister, Selina Walker of Alto; grandchildren, Molly Williams and Rhett Williams, both of Gainesville; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
