Funeral services Daryl Eric White, 49, of Clarkesville, were held Sunday, Jan. 24, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Pastor David C. Collins and Pastor Johnny Truelove officiating. Interment followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Pastor Philip McQueen officiating at the graveside.

Mr. White went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer after 10 years.

Born Oct. 4, 1971, in Demorest, he was the youngest child of the late Floyd Clyde White and Betty Ann Humphries White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant niece, Madeline Gosnell.

Survivors include his sons, Cade and Ruel White; sisters and brother-in-law, Holly and Phillip Gosnell, and Teresa White; girlfriend, Natasha White; niece, Heather Gosnell Duckworth and her husband, Jackie; nephews, Hayden Eller and Tanner Gosnell; step-grandmother, Beatrice Humphries; several cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Daryl was a graduate of Habersham Central High School Class of 1989. He went on to study secondary education at Piedmont College. He obtained degrees in Leadership/Administration at the University of Alabama and Principalship at North Georgia College & State University. Daryl was a long-time educator with the Georgia School System, starting his career with Franklin County as a teacher and coached football as well as golf. He went on to become assistant principal at Gainesville High School, principal at Woods Mill Academy, assistant principal at Gainesville Elementary School, and his last position as assistant principal at Mundy Mill Academy.

In 2011, Daryl and his boys joined the Scouting program. He was excited at the opportunity to spend this time with Cade and Ruel enjoying everything the Cub Scouts had to offer. He was quickly recruited to help lead his Den, and the Pack, and he has been leading ever since. Over the years, Daryl has held several roles in the program including Den Leader, Cubmaster, Committee Member, Assistant Scoutmaster, Unit Commissioner, District Round Table Chairman, Woodbadge Troop Guide, and Woodbadge Scribe. He very much believed in the Scouting program and was able to see first-hand the difference it made in his own boys in his Troop. Daryl was a perfect example of what it means to live by the Scout oath and the Scout Law. He loved Scouting and Scouting loved him.

Daryl treated everyone as though they were family and made a huge impact on the lives of so many people. He fought the good fight, finished his course well, and will be greatly missed by family and friends. The world was a better place with him in it. Rise up, be a Daryl. As Daryl would say, "Love ya! Mean it!"
