Dollie Mae Hurt Chandler

A funeral service for Dollie Mae Hurt Chandler, 91, of Mt. Airy, was held Tuesday, Sept. 17, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Burrell and the Rev. Trent Smith officiating. Interment followed in Hazel Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Chandler passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019.

Born July 4, 1928, in Mt. Airy, she was a daughter of the late Jim and Ollie James Hurt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Chandler; son, Levi Chandler; brothers, Ernest Hurt, Clyde Hurt and infant Douglas Hurt; and sisters, Clara Clark, Beatrice Dill, and Mary Meeks.

Mrs. Chandler was a native of Habersham County and a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald Allen and Caroline Chandler of Mt. Airy; daughter-in-law, Sue Chandler; grandchildren, Salena and Brent McKay, Misty and Daryl Rice, Daniel Chandler, David Chandler, Breanna Chandler, and James Chandler; great-grandchildren, Connor and Carter Rice, Chandler and Aleah McKay, and Charlotte Chandler; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Janice Hurt of Cornelia; and several nieces and nephews.

Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
